When you wash your hands with soap and water, you break up the dirt, viruses, and bacteria on the surface of your skin. These contaminants are trapped and washed down the drain, meaning you reduce your chances of exposing them to your immune system by touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. 
Green Water Technologies recommends drinking one glass of water every hour if you begin to feel ill. While no amount of water will guarantee a virus-free winter, staying hydrated can ease symptoms and reduce the duration of your illness if you do get sick. Soups, decaffeinated tea, and broth also provide hydration and can go a long way toward your winter wellness efforts.
